Summary: This small book presents for the first time in one place colour illustrations of the six decorative arts of Classic Maori culture: tattoo (moko), rafter-painting (kowhaiwhai), weaving of cloak borders (taniko), plaiting of coloured elements in baskets and mats (raranga), lattice-work house-panels (tukutuku), and carved work in wood, bone, and stone (whakairo). Of these arts the last is the most important and the one which is best known to New Zealanders and to people in overseas countries.
