Features leading scholars on Native American history and the history of the American West discussing the cultural collisions that occurred between American Indians and Euro-American settlers who settled the West during the last half of the 19th century. In this second segment of three, the incompatible visions, competing aspirations and goals that were at the heart of the conflict between Indians and settlers are examined.
