Native American chef Loretta Barrett Oden travels to the Great Lakes and the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota to learn to harvest wild rice by hand. She then helps prepare traditional foods such as wild rice and maple syrup cake which accompanies a lakeside first-rice feast of buffalo, wild rice and cranberry stuffed acorn squash, buffalo stew and ruby red swamp tea.
