Summary:

The Great Tribal Leaders of Modern Times interview series offers oral histories of contemporary native leaders who have played vital roles in their people's struggles for sovereignty, self-determination and treaty rights. This DVD focuses on John Echohawk who is a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma and currently serves the executive director of the Native American Rights Fund. Echohawk talks about his efforts to pursue lawsuits on behalf of native tribes and providing legal representation and technical assistance regarding issues such as human rights, ancestoral burial grounds and Indian sovereignty.
