Summary:

"Pele the volcano goddess sends her youngest sister, Hi'iaka, on a grand quest to Kaua'i to find Pele's love, restore him to life, and bring him to their crater home. Wielding supernatural powers, Hi'iaka and her companions face the dangers, ordeals, spectral foes and worldly wiles. It is a very human account of love and lust, jealousy and justice, peopled with deities, demons, chiefs and commoners. The story highlights Hi'iaka's role as a healer, an inspiration and a central figure in the hula traditions of the Pele literature"--Publisher's accompanying description.
