Summary:

General Saint Pe, a retired French solider, is married to a jealous shrew of a wife, has two ugly daughters to marry off, and loses himself in memories of a young girl he waltzed with at a ball 17 years before. To complicate matters, the general's secretary, Gaston, is smitten by his employer's dream girl when she suddenly appears on the scene.
